C/P Wheelchairs

Hi Henk,Thank you once again for the allocation of wheelchairs to us. It has meant that 27 people will enjoy a very happy Christmas because they will be mobile enough to get to church or to visit their friends. The attached picture is of Mandlenke Vanqa. He lost his leg some years ago as a result of diabetic complications. The thought of getting a wheelchair made him so excited that it affected his blood sugar. After he got his chair at our distribution point, he was confused and obviously in no condition to go home alone. He was loathe to get out of his new chair, so we loaded him into a bakkie, chair and all and took him home. Also standing on the back of the bakkie is our Club President Dave Stacey.I thought the picture might interest you and also the donors. It is typical Africa. I suppose, that is hard for people in developed countries to imagine just how difficult it is for disabled people to get around in the absence of affordable public transport. The wheelchairs provided by the Wheelchair Foundation make all the difference in the world to disabled people in our town and are the best and probably the only Christmas present that they will get. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, and our sincere thanks for all that you do to make it possible for our Rotary Club to help the needy in this way.Regards.Edric
